Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

The Empyrean · Book 2

She survived their trials. Now she must survive their lies.

Violet Sorrengail has earned her place at Basgiath War College. That does not mean the college is finished trying to break her.

Her second year brings harsher training, higher stakes and an enemy with the power to threaten everything she fought to keep. Endurance alone cannot protect the people she loves. Especially when the truth is something she cannot safely share.

With the man she loves caught in the danger, Violet must decide what to reveal, what to conceal and how much she is willing to sacrifice. Every choice leaves someone exposed. Every secret makes trust harder to hold.

As the stories told by those in command begin to fracture, survival becomes more than a matter of strength. Violet will need to question the people who demand her obedience - and face what their answers might cost her.

Rebecca Yarros returns to the world of Fourth Wing with dragon fire, rebellion and a romance tested by dangerous truths. For readers who left Basgiath wanting more, the gates are open again. Safety was never part of the invitation.

DNF is always an option. A book not being your match does not make it a bad book. Please don’t punish authors for writing the genres and tropes they promise.

VERDICT: Your next match if you are ready to return to Basgiath for higher stakes, fractured trust and a love with everything to lose.
